Candidate Survey
The Endorsement Process
Our endorsement process begins with a candidate survey focused on collecting opinions about the issues most aligned with our mission. The endorsement committee then grades the survey and we’ll reach out for an interview (conducted virtually or in-person). From there, we take your survey and interview back to the PROMO PAC committee as a whole for discussion and approval. The recommendations for endorsement from the PAC then move to the PROMO Board, who determines official approval.
The Survey & Considerations
Here are some of the considerations we review as we make our recommendations:
- A candidate must meet the criteria of PROMO’s mission and vision, which is shown through a candidate’s survey and interview.
- A candidate must be viable and able to run a competitive campaign.
- A candidate’s prior work or track record must show support for full LGBTQ+ equality.
Additionally,
- The endorsement committee, PROMO PAC, or the Board of Directors for PROMO do take into consideration candidates who are openly LGBTQ+, but do not solely base endorsements on whether a candidate is part of the LGBTQ+ community.
- Any candidate who does not score 100% on the survey (someone who is not in full support of LGBTQ+ equality) is not eligible for endorsement.
